Could just be the way I view things....

When I am viewing the forums in the IC threads, I take the body of the post as what has been written and put on the board.  I try to always disregard who "actually" made the post, IE: whomever is listed in the account box to the left.  My assumption is that if you did not sign in the body:

1) This is something generic posted by a random npc runner for a pc

OR

2) Some pc posted it and is doing so anonymously.

With the establishment of the game reset, I would find it useful if we could have a general consensus on how we should be reading IC forum posts.  I for one would rather continue with the way I have been doing it but I am open to others opinions.  At some point after player input, some decision by staff would be appreciated.

If a forum post was made by an identifiable character account, you can assume that the post was made by that character or by someone on behalf of that character regardless of whether or not there's an actual signature on it. However, this wouldn't apply if the post specifically says that it was posted by someone else, i.e. an anonymous page boy.

So should come up with a separate account for posting anonymously?

That would probably be the best bet!

That's a shame. I remember seeing on the old CM forums, people would have entire "anonymous" threads back and forth about various things even though they were posting on their main accounts. I even did it a few times on a couple of my different forum accounts (different characters I was playing at the time), and everyone took it in stride, and assumed that if you didn't have a signature at the bottom, either the one auto-populated from your account or one placed at the end of a posting individually, that it was posted anonymously. Even Emmaline has a signature in her account, and I think that personally would fall under a signature placed in the body of the text.

Something I also used to see would be things like *a young page boy lifts this notice* to elevate already made postings, *a slender maid posts a blue-violet scroll*, things of that nature, usually directed missives composed by whoever.

But hey, that's just me, and we all have our own opinions 🙂

I have a preference towards separate accounts for anonymous postings.

I think a lot of people will just glance at the forums and see a post not thinking about if someone actually signed it or not. It only takes one person to mess up and start talking about a post that was meant to be anonymous ICly and then it's sort of just out in the wild and everyone has to roll with the meta of it even if it was an accident and they just didn't notice the lack of signature.

It's just cleaner to make a dummy account for anonymous postings imho. I know that is probably a bit of a pain, but I also feel it's more immersive that way too.

Just my two cents.

I agree. Sometimes I find that others meta too much if they "know" who posted/said this and that. And I may be one of them.  😉
