This thread is for features that will be available in the outlands. Please remember that the area will be in beta upon release, i.e. you may encounter changes and additions after the area is live.

Customizable Houses

Customizable houses can be found throughout the outlands. These houses are unfurnished, and you will be able to add your own walls, ceilings, and floors using materials (ex: tiles, wallpaper, wood paneling) that can be acquired from various tradespeople. The toggle command to enable and disable construction is @build. Use add to install materials, i.e. add tile to floor. In many cases, you will need additional supplies, such as wallpaper paste or nails, in order to do this. Use smashpull, or tear to remove materials (this will destroy the original material; materials are not reusable). The appearance of the room will automatically update to reflect installed materials.

Mining

Characters with the miner class will be able to mine for clay, stone, ore, gems, and other materials, which can be used by other tradesmen. Items are randomized and linked to skill level. The command is mine, i.e. mine here (note: you must be holding a pickaxe). Raw ore can be given to an NPC to be processed into bars or rods or sold for money.

Woodcutting

Characters with the woodcutter class will be able to gather wood to be processed into lumber. Woodcutters can survey, i.e. survey here, while in a forest to find various types of trees to cut into logs (note: you must be holding an axe). Many of the tree types cannot be found elsewhere, and what you find is randomized and linked to your skill level. The logs can be taken to the lumber mill for processing or sold for money.

Livestock

Cows, sheep, pigs, goats, and chickens will be available to keep on the farms included with most of the homesteads. All livestock will have a byproduct (ex: fleece) which can be gathered from the animal provided that the animal is tended to regularly.

Note: Certain animals will only be available as STP purchases.
