Vital Plot Characters

The role of Vital Plot (VP) characters is to facilitate a compelling and immersive storytelling experience for the players. They help shape the game’s plot, create memorable moments, and provide narrative depth and complexity. The actions and decisions of the PCs in their interactions with VP characters often have far-reaching consequences, influencing the overall progression and resolution of the PC’s story.

VP characters are typically designed by the game master or storyteller to drive the plot forward and provide challenges, conflicts, or opportunities for the PCs to engage with. They may serve as allies, mentors, quest givers, or antagonists, depending on their role in the story. The actions and interactions of the PCs with VP characters can shape the direction and outcome of the overall narrative.

That being said,  players are given the option to participate in staff-run plots through the @victim and @complicit commands. These commands let us know which players wish to participate in the high-velocity plots that may involve risk (or reward) to a character.

The syntax is as follows;

@victim

By flagging yourself as a victim, you are giving consent to be a victim for current and future plots. As a victim, your character could be subject to acts of violence or bad luck. Consenting as a victim is not the same as consenting for death. Death can only occur with explicit consent given at the time of death.

@complicit

By flagging yourself as complicit, you are giving consent to be complicit for current and future plots. As a complicit player character, your character could be subject to or participate in unlawful acts. By consenting as a complicit player character, you are consenting to the possible consequences of these actions. This is not the same as consenting to be a victim. Consenting to be complicit is not the same as consenting to death. Death can only occur with explicit consent given at the time of death.
